In cases of discrepancy between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle in Rugeley, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category and held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement, is required. You must also present valid identification and proof of your current address. Accepted payment information and a security deposit are necessary, along with any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Terms
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Rugeley branch. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, a comprehensive inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage. Please report any findings immediately. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and appropriate charges will apply. The vehicle must also be returned with the same fuel level; refueling charges will be incurred if the tank is not filled. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or related charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. For full coverage details and excess amounts, please refer to the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for extra coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, even with insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice given. For specific details, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges, so it’s important to be aware of the terms associated with your reservation.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. The vehicle cannot be sub-let or driven by unauthorized individuals. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Use of the vehicle should align with its intended purpose, and passenger and weight limits must not be exceeded. Operating the vehicle outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Rugeley will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
